Liam Cervante	f80762d3d5	terraform test: add variable definitions to test files (#37195) ... * terraform test: add variable definitions to test files Currently, `terraform test` attempts to work out the type of any external variables by delaying evaluation until each run block executes so it can use the definitions within the run blocks's module. This means that the values of variables can technically change between run blocks which isn't ideal. This commit is the first in a chain which will move the evaluation of variables into the terraform test graph. We need to give the users the option of specifying the type for external variables within the file as these variables are now going to be assessed outside of the context of a run block. To do this, we introduce the optional variable blocks that are added by this commit. * update comment	12 months ago

The UnmarkDeep call causes an unnecessary deep copy, and generate lots of garbage every time a for_each collection was evaluated, which is at least once for each instance.	1 year ago

Otherwise the complete graph can be printed once in the trace log for general debugging purposes. Removing the intermediate graph steps can reduce log output for large configs by many megabytes per run. On top of the volume of output, the graph string generation can cause a noticeable impact on performance with large graphs.	1 year ago

James Bardin	f243754a12	reduce changes lookups in GetResource ... Expanded resources always require fetching all instances for evaluation, but the changes data structure requires iterating over all instances for each call to GetResourceInstanceChange, so it turns out to be an n^2 operation. This wasn't very visible in most configs with relatively few numbers of instances, but when you have a large number of instances referencing another resource with a large number of instances (e.g. the second resource uses the first as the for_each argument), you end up with (n^2)^2 lookups. Because the instance changes are in a global structure, this single point of lock contention would hold up the entire plan.	1 year ago
